For most established organisations the answer is a mix, not a wholesale move. Some workloads run better and cheaper in the public cloud, while others belong on private infrastructure for cost, control or compliance reasons. PTP Integrated (PTPI) builds the case on evidence from your actual workloads, and has moved systems in both directions where the numbers supported it.
Hybrid cloud combines private infrastructure, such as your own data centre, with at least one public cloud, managed as a single environment. Multicloud means using more than one public cloud provider, for example Azure and AWS, often for different workloads. Many organisations end up with both, which is exactly why a deliberate strategy matters more than the label.
Because migrating without one is how organisations end up with runaway costs, duplicated systems and workloads in the wrong place. A strategy maps your applications, data and dependencies first, then decides what moves, what stays and in what order. It also settles governance questions, like where personal information may live under POPIA, before they become expensive problems.
Not automatically, and anyone who promises otherwise has not looked at your workloads. Cloud shifts spend from capital to operating costs and removes hardware refresh cycles, but steady, predictable workloads can cost more in the public cloud than on well-run private infrastructure. A proper business case compares total cost over several years, including licensing, bandwidth, people and exit costs.
It is a structured review of your current environment: an inventory of applications, servers, storage, networks and how they depend on each other, plus your team’s skills and your compliance obligations. The output is a clear picture of what is ready to move, what needs work first and what should not move at all. PTPI starts every cloud engagement with this kind of assessment rather than assuming an answer.
